Health Impact Ohio Welcomes Local Journalist to the Team
By: Jennifer Bullock Moore, Marketing & Communications Consultant, Health Impact Ohio
Please, allow me to introduce myself:
Or to paraphrase Jay-Z, “Allow me to reintroduce myself” to those of you who may know me by a different name and in a different capacity.
My name is Jennifer Moore, and I’m excited to be working with Health Impact Ohio in the role of Marketing and Communications Consultant. Some of you may know me already as Jennifer Bullock, Weekday Afternoon Anchor at NBC4 in Columbus. Two names, two titles, one person. But, if we really want to get technical, I have a few other titles, as well.
Yes, I am a wife and a mom. I am also Vice President of Miles’ Mission, a non-profit organization my family established in honor of my stillborn son. I am a member of the Columbus Association of Black Journalists. A CelebrateOne board member. A Sunday School teacher at my family’s church. A soon-to-be-certified grief counselor. A mentor. An advocate. And if there is one thing that has guided every step of my career – or careers -- it's that people matter.
For more than a decade, I have had the privilege of telling the stories of people across Ohio and beyond -- from breaking news to moments of celebration, resilience, and hope. Since joining NBC4 in 2014, I have been a News Producer, Traffic Anchor, Weekend Evening Anchor, and Weekday Afternoon Anchor. No matter the title, though, my work has always been about using my voice and platform to inform, connect, and advocate for the place and people I call, “Home.”
It is not just regurgitating facts. I am a born-and-bred Buckeye. I hail from the hills of Zanesville, Ohio and graduated an OU Bobcat. Everything I do for work is also personal to me. Shining a light on issues that directly affect my neighbors, friends, family, even myself. Even when it comes to advocating in the health space. I have a personal connection to the American Heart Association, as my mother and I navigate our own journeys daily. And do not get me started on speaking up and out about maternal and infant health (see Miles’ Mission for more).
It is not the “headlines” that get me out of bed every morning. It is raising awareness, fighting for access and education of and in these spaces that constantly inspire me to want to do more to make things better for everyone around me. So, merging my experience in communications, writing and storytelling with my passion for healthcare by joining HIO in this capacity just makes sense.
