Building a Sustainable Future: A Look at Health Impact Ohio’s 2026 Financial Picture

By: Eliana Lagos, Chief Financial Officer, Health Impact Ohio

At HIO, sustainability is more than balancing a budget. It is about building the financial foundation needed to continue investing in CHWs, supporting community-based organizations and advancing programs that improve health outcomes across Ohio.

As Quarter 4 begins, HIO is reviewing its year-to-date financial position and the continued growth of the Central Ohio Pathways HUB, one of HIO’s signature programs. The numbers tell an encouraging story of an organization continuing to manage resources thoughtfully while creating opportunities for future growth.

Since 2021, the HUB has released more than $4.5 million to participating Care Coordination Agencies, supporting community-based care coordination work throughout Central Ohio. That total includes more than $3 million through Medicaid Managed Care contracts, $515,000 in grants, nearly $934,000 in in-kind payments, and $14,500 connected to client enrollment through Pearls. Today, the HUB includes 16 active agencies.

The HUB’s financial picture also shows how multiple funding sources can come together to support community impact.

Financial reports can sometimes feel like a collection of numbers, but behind every number is an opportunity to do more. HIO has and will continue to identify and cultivate critical partnerships while demonstrating the value of community-based approaches to improving health, health equity, and access.

As HIO moves into the remainder of 2026 and begins planning for 2027, the focus remains on diversified partnerships and continued investment in the people and organizations doing this work every day.

The goal is not simply to sustain an organization. It is to sustain the work that makes healthier communities possible.
