A Letter from Board Chair
Dan Paoletti

Greetings HCGC Partners,

This year, I’ve had the honor of becoming the president of the HCGC board of directors. My transition from board member-at-large to board president has been an easy one given the long-held partnership CliniSync maintains with HCGC in our joint pursuit of greater interoperability of health data to address health disparities and increase equity in the system.

  • Greetings HCGC Partners,

This year, I’ve had the honor of becoming the president of the HCGC board of directors. My transition from board member-at-large to board president has been an easy one given the long-held partnership CliniSync maintains with HCGC in our joint pursuit of greater interoperability of health data to address health disparities and increase equity in the system. Our organizations covet this shared understanding: as the healthcare world expands and becomes more complex, we must work to make data more accessible, sharable, and actionable to improve outcomes for all people. HCGC’s commitment to using data to create change in the social, personal, and medical aspects of Ohioan’s lives is what has drawn me to contribute my time to help lead this organization and support their mission as board president.

As HCGC closes out our 23rd year in operation, we find ourselves carrying a legacy of access, while understanding that the true definition of access must continue to evolve, encompassing the complexities that marginalization of under-resourced populations present. The HCGC board and staff team have set the bar high in defining access by insisting that equity be at the forefront of our mission-driven work. The notion of addressing not just the medical needs that effect access, but the various social factors that impede access is paramount to the day-to-day and long term impact the organization will continue to make in Central Ohio and beyond.

I’d like to thank my fellow board members who have served diligently and collaboratively, always prioritizing the health and well-being of Ohioans. HCGC President and CEO Carrie Baker has always said that our board, comprised of several sometimes-competing interests, “leave their bags at the door” to address the needs of our region. HCGC’s board, through strategic planning, has been fostering what happened so publicly during the COVID-19 pandemic: prioritizing impact and outcomes over competition and profits.

On behalf of the entire board, I must thank the incredible HCGC staff for their dedication, ingenuity, and commitment that they have brought to this organization. In 2021, our organization has grown from 8 full time employees to 12, and in 2017 there were just 3.5. The board has entrusted executive leadership and their staff teams to engage in project work that has increased us from a $600,000 organization in 2017 to what will be a $2.1 million organization in 2022. The work of this staff team is inspiring to say the least, and we are grateful for their efforts.

In closing, partnership, and diversity in our collective impact work at HCGC and in our community has never been more important. Please take a moment to orient yourself with the work of HCGC, including our board, staff, and themes from the year. We look forward to another impactful year in 2022.

    Best,
    Dan Paoletti
    President, Board of Directors
    HCGC

2021 has been a year of immense growth at HCGC. While we are proud of increased staff capacity as a result of increased project work, the most important measure of that growth lies in the impact HCGC-led projects are making in our region’s most marginalized communities. The work that this organization has been building toward for the last 23 years is more needed now than ever, and we are inspired by the people that we serve to continue expanding our reach and impact in 2022.”
