Mary Sheehan
Battelle

Mary Sheehan is a Principal Research Scientist in the Health Research group within Battelle. Battelle is known for solving the world’s toughest challenges using advanced science and technology, and Mary supports that mission through Battelle’s healthcare quality improvement business line. With federal clients like the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and local clients, Mary’s work centers around finding efficient and affordable innovations to the healthcare system that can improve patient outcomes. She knows that access to quality healthcare can impact people’s ability to live a more productive and purpose driven life. Using data management, her clinical background, and her ability to identify performance gaps, Mary’s largest project involves the oversight of over 2,000 quality measures that are used in CMS payment and performance programs.

Mary joined Battelle after gaining clinical experience as a Pediatric Nutrition Support Specialist at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center and public health experience serving as Program Manager at Columbus Public Health. Ms. Sheehan is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian with a diverse career including 10 years of experience in both clinical and public health nutrition, research, program planning and evaluation, and healthcare quality improvement. At a local level, Mary has been a part of projects that assess the feasibility of redesigning the delivery of behavioral healthcare and serves on the Battelle Women’s Network leadership team. She has recently been elected to be a board member for the Healthcare Collaborative of Greater Columbus, is an active member of the Young Alumni committee for Varsity O, is a member of the Greater Columbus Rowing Association, and has been an active member of WELD since 2013.
